5 Months

5 months
By five months old she is rolling from stomach to back and back to stomach.  She has big smiles, but doesn't hand out giggles for just anything.  She loves to yell and squeal when she plays.  If she can grab it, it automatically goes in her mouth.  She loves hands- to look at, play with, and nibble on.
Next up: eating some solid food, working on sitting up, getting a tooth.

Bob the Builder

Can we fix it?  Yes we can!

As with any old house there are many things that need repaired.
As with any new (to us) house there are many things that need improved.
Let the work begin!

Replacing the bathtub drain.

Buying new furniture.

Painting a magnetic chalkboard wall.
Repairing a shelf for the toy room.

Fixing a rotten bathroom floor.

Cleaning a dirty, old refrigerator.

Receiving a new swing set from Grandma and Grandpa!

Never a dull moment.  Plenty more projects on the horizon.

Adventures in Moving

It's been three weeks since we finally closed on our house.  The drama has subsided, but there were many eventful moments along the way.

After our original closing date was indefinitely postponed due to a window repair, I was checking in with our loan officer at least twice a day.  I kept getting told that underwriting just couldn't get to our closing papers yet.  It was frustrating.  Even one week later, when we had been told we would surely close by now , there was still doubt that it would come altogether in time.  Our loan officer (who had gone off on vacation) assured us that if it didn't go through on Friday that we could try again on Monday.  Clearly she was not the one living out of a cardboard box.  With some urging from the seller and myself the bank managed to pull everything together at the end of the day on that Friday.  Big sigh of relief- hooray it's time to move!

Unlocking the front door to our new house!

So then my brother-in-law says, "Hey!  Let's get a head start and take a load out tonight!"  How ambitious of him, I think.  He, his wife, his five kids, and my husband, roll in with the trailer at about 7:30PM.  Those kids were like moving ninjas!  They swept through the house, grabbing whatever they could carry, and loading it onto the trailer.  Everything was going smoothly until I started carrying one of Dominic's Lego containers out...and dropped it down the stairs....outside....in the dark....by the grass...  (I think all of the pieces got rescued.)

Rescuing Legos.

Moving crew.
We got back on track.  Finished loading the trailer and were off to the new house (with all of our necessities in tow).  Then, just outside of town, the trailer gets a flat tire.  By this point it's late and there are few available resources for replacing trailer tires.  Luckily another brother-in-law has access to one and brings it out.  Not so luckily, it took quite a long time, and it was dark and cold, too!  So there I was with two empty houses and a sleepy infant.  Where do you go in the middle of the night when there is no where else to be?  Wal-mart of course.  My sister came along to help maintain my sanity.   We bought some tasty snacks and headed back to the new house in time to see the boys unloading the trailer at 1:30 AM.

We had only a little time to sleep as we were back up at 7:00 AM to continue moving.  I'm thankful for all of the wonderful friends and family that helped us pack, clean, haul, and carry.  I'm even thankful for the adventures we had along the way.  It wouldn't be a fun story to tell without them!

Time to unpack!
